Mallory and Chandler’s wedding was one of the most unforgettable celebrations I’ve photographed as a Kansas City wedding photographer. Planned in collaboration with Onyx Events and Weddings in Kansas City, this private estate wedding felt like something straight out of Yellowstone — refined, adventurous, and deeply personal.

A Private Estate Wedding outside of Kansas City

Set at the bride’s family’s stunning private estate just outside of Kansas City, this luxury outdoor wedding was unlike anything I’ve documented before. A lake separated the main home from the ceremony and reception location, so guests boarded boats to travel across the water for the celebration. Watching everyone arrive by boat created such a cinematic and memorable start to this wedding day.

Private estate weddings offer the opportunity to capture not only beautiful design, but also meaningful landscapes that are deeply tied to the couple’s story. The natural setting, open skies, and waterfront views gave this outdoor wedding an elevated yet relaxed energy.

Yellowstone-Inspired Wedding Design

After the ceremony and reception, the wedding party embraced the setting fully — relaxing on a pontoon boat, spraying champagne, smoking cigars, and soaking in the joy of the day. These fun midwestern moments are why I love being a Kansas City wedding photographer. The energy was carefree, genuine, and completely reflective of Mallory and Chandler’s personalities.
