This editorial maternity session at Whiskey Ranch Horses and Cattle in Bucyrus, Kansas, was a dream to photograph. Just outside of Kansas City, this farm property offered a truly one-of-a-kind setting for maternity photos — complete with donkeys, cows, horses, and even a camel. As a Kansas City maternity photographer, I’m always inspired by locations that feel expansive and unexpected, and this Bucyrus farm provided the perfect backdrop for something creative and elevated.

Located on a farm in Buycyrus, just 40 minutes outside of downtown Kansas City.

This session embraced both natural beauty and refined styling. Maternity photos in the Flint Hills of Kansas offer a unique blend of rustic texture and wide-open landscape, making every photo feel cinematic.

Working with local model Kyrie Quinn allowed us to approach the session with a more editorial mindset. Instead of traditional maternity poses, we experimented with movement, structure, and composition — using the scenery, animals, and architecture of the farm to create imagery that felt distinct and artistic.

I love blending lifestyle authenticity with editorial direction. We played with dramatic posing near the horses, soft movement in the fields, and bold compositions that highlighted the scale of the landscape.

The donkeys, cows, and camel added unexpected character to the gallery, making this maternity shoot truly unique. Every setting offered a new opportunity to create something different — ensuring that the final images felt as one-of-a-kind as Kyrie herself.
