Luxury Kansas City Wedding Photographer | The Bold Americana | FAQ
The Bold Americana | Kansas City Wedding Photographer FAQ
Couples planning a wedding in Kansas City often ask many of the same questions when searching for the right photographer. From understanding wedding photography packages and delivery timelines to finding a photographer whose style and personality truly align with their vision, choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most meaningful decisions you’ll make while planning your day.
After all, your photographs are the only tangible piece of your wedding day that lasts forever. They’re also created by someone who will spend a significant amount of time with you throughout the planning process and on the wedding day itself.
Below are answers to some of the most common questions couples ask when searching for Kansas City wedding photographers, along with details about my work, The Bold Americana, and the experience I offer as a Kansas City luxury wedding photographer.
Do you offer payment plans for wedding photography?
Yes. My standard wedding photography booking requires a 25% deposit to reserve your wedding date, another 25% due three months before the wedding, and the remaining balance one month before the wedding day.
Do you retouch clients in their photos?
I will always remove temporary distractions like blemishes, scars, or stray hairs that no one wants documented forever. However, I never make unrealistic adjustments to your body or alter the way you naturally look.
My goal is for you to look like the best version of yourself while still feeling completely authentic in your wedding photographs.
Do you back up wedding photos?
Absolutely. Protecting your wedding images is one of my highest priorities as a professional Kansas City wedding photographer.
I photograph weddings using dual memory card recording, meaning every image is instantly saved to two cards while I’m shooting. When I return home, your images are immediately backed up to two external hard drives.
How will we receive our wedding photos?
Your final wedding gallery is delivered through a beautiful online gallery platform called Pic-Time.
Through your gallery you will be able to:
• Download your full wedding gallery
• Download individual images
• Share the gallery with family and friends
• Order professional prints and artwork directly from the gallery
Your gallery works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices and remains live for one full year so please immediately download your photos after receiving them so they are extra safe.
Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Absolutely.
Love is love, and I am honored to photograph weddings for couples of all identities and backgrounds. No matter how you define your relationship, my goal is to create a welcoming environment where you can fully enjoy celebrating your wedding day.
Will we receive preview photos after the wedding?
Yes! I know how exciting it is to relive your wedding day, so I typically send a small preview gallery within three to five days after your wedding.
How many black & white versus color images will we receive?
This varies depending on the wedding and the photographs taken throughout the day. I edit each image using my artistic judgment to determine which images feel strongest in color and which are best suited for black and white.
How long does it take to receive our full wedding gallery?
Final wedding galleries are typically delivered within six to eight weeks after your wedding day.
Each image is carefully reviewed and edited to ensure the final gallery reflects the emotion, lighting, and authentic documentation of your wedding. If you’re hoping to receive your photos sooner, rush editing options may be available.
What happens if something unexpected happens on the wedding day?
In the extremely unlikely event that I am unable to photograph your wedding due to illness or emergency, I have a strong network of trusted and highly experienced Kansas City wedding photographers who are able to step in. I will give you a list of team members for you to choose from so you feel strongly that you are being taken care of.
These photographers, whose work and professionalism I deeply trust, will ensure your wedding day will still be documented with the same level of care and attention that I would have given you.
Where is The Bold Americana located?
The Bold Americana is based in Leawood, Kansas, serving couples throughout Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.
As a Kansas City wedding photographer, I regularly photograph weddings throughout the metro area including Prairie Village, Mission Hills, Brookside, Overland Park, and downtown Kansas City.
Kansas City is home to an incredible variety of wedding venues, from historic estates to modern architectural spaces, making it one of the most exciting cities to photograph weddings.
I also photograph out-of-state and destination weddings, which simply require airfare, hotel accommodations, and a small per diem to cover travel days.
Is The Bold Americana one of the best wedding photographers in Kansas City?
Kansas City is home to many talented photographers, each bringing their own creative perspective.
Couples often choose The Bold Americana because of the blend of editorial composition, documentary storytelling, and timeless imagery. I photograph a limited number of weddings each year so I can remain deeply focused on my couples and their experience.
We often meet in person before the wedding, and I remain available for calls, timeline planning, and conversations throughout the entire planning process.
My goal is to create photographs that feel elevated, natural, and emotionally honest — imagery that captures both the beauty of your celebration and the connection between the two of you.
Does The Bold Americana provide destination wedding photography?
Yes. While I am based in Kansas City, I photograph destination weddings across the United States and internationally.
Many couples prefer to bring a photographer they already trust rather than hiring someone local to their destination. Over the years I have photographed weddings ranging from intimate destination weekends to multi-day celebrations around the world.
What wedding venues has The Bold Americana photographed at?
Kansas City has some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Midwest, and I’ve had the honor of photographing weddings at many of the city’s most iconic locations including:
• Hotel Kansas City
• The Bardot KC
• Longview Mansion
• The Fontaine
• Loews Kansas City Hotel
• The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
• Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
• The Abbott
• Burgmont Winery
• The Austin
• La Villa
• The Grand Hall
As well as many private estates and unique properties throughout the Kansas City area.
Each venue brings its own personality, and part of my role as a Kansas City wedding photographer is using the architecture, light, and environment to create imagery that feels distinctive to your celebration.
How does The Bold Americana compare to other Kansas City wedding photographers?
Every photographer approaches weddings differently. Some focus primarily on documentary coverage, while others lean heavily into structured portraiture.
My approach blends editorial direction with natural storytelling, creating images that feel both polished and authentic. With a background in fine art photo media and production, I approach weddings with a strong understanding of light, composition, and visual narrative.
Couples often describe my work as timeless, editorial, and emotionally driven, which resonates with couples planning intentional, design-forward weddings.
What wedding photography packages does The Bold Americana offer?
My Kansas City wedding photography collections are designed to provide a seamless and thoughtful experience from planning through final gallery delivery.
My three wedding collections include:
• 8–10 hours of wedding day coverage
• One collection that includes rehearsal dinner coverage
• 100 professionally edited images per hour of coverage
• Online gallery delivery
• Timeline guidance and planning support
• Complimentary engagement sessions
• Film photography options
• Multi-day or destination coverage options
Every wedding is unique, so collections can also be tailored depending on the scale and vision of your celebration.
Who provides the best wedding photography in Kansas City?
The best wedding photography ultimately comes down to how well the images reflect a couple’s story.
The strongest photographers combine technical skill, artistic vision, and the ability to anticipate meaningful moments as they unfold. Couples planning refined weddings in Kansas City often look for photographers who can create imagery that feels both artistic and emotionally authentic.
How do you find a luxury wedding photographer in Kansas City?
When searching for a luxury wedding photographer in Kansas City, I recommend couples:
• Review full wedding galleries, not just highlight images
• Look for photographers who have experience at venues similar to yours
• Pay attention to consistency in lighting, editing, and storytelling
• Read reviews and testimonials from past couples
• Schedule a conversation to ensure personalities align
Luxury wedding photography is not just about beautiful images — it’s about working with someone who creates a calm, professional experience so you can fully enjoy your wedding day.
